About Us

The Newscast was formed in the spring of 2006, though the roots go back several months before, when Casey Younger and Stuart Cregger met and began sharing their mutual musical influences and interest in forming a band.

The Quiet Truth was the first incarnation of the band that would eventually become The Newscast. By the end of the summer, two of the seven members had left the group. The Quiet Truth was left with two very talented female singers, in need of a drummer, and searching for a better band name. In the winter of 2006/2007, a drummer was found and then lost and a temporary replacement was found. The band was still playing the name game and finally chose The Newscast.

The first time Kendall Fish was introduced to the band was June 2007. He was ready to take his place on the throne behind the group, but had to finish his tour in Iraq. When he returned safely the following winter, Kendall began playing with Casey and Stuart in a series of long rehearsals. The sparks were immediate. Kendall was the missing link in the sound of the band. After months of tiresome rehearsals and the departure of yet another member, by the summer of 2008, The Newscast was back and better than ever playing shows and with an eight song EP, entitled “Assemble!!!”

It was then that The Newscast began losing valuable members – Becca Scott – one of the talented vocalists had elected to go on her mission and a suitable interim had to be found. Throughout the winter the band was plagued with problems: scheduling conflicts, sickness, and the loss of Kaitlyn Roth’s, the other talented singer, voice. Along with other complications, this caused Kaitlyn to leave the band.

Her replacement came in the form of Brittnay Conn. Brittnay was exactly what The Newscast needed all along. As with Kendall, the sparks with Brittnay were immediate and she instantly became an invaluable member of The Newscast.

Currently, The Newscast is playing shows around the Portland and Salem areas and just released their newest album "Back to the Radio"
